You are going to discover the impact that 'fashion' has on the environment and the simple steps you can take to help make a small but worthy difference
[[Wear what's trendy]]
[[Choose a more 'planet friendly' approach]]Today you are going into a fast-fashion shop to buy yourself some new ripped jeans and that really trendy top that has been all over insta and tiktok, lets get to the point.
[[buy clothes]]You are going to go shopping but you have the choice of some eco friendly options. You can either buy pre-loved clothes from a [[second-hand store]] or you can, if you have a higher budget, buy form an [[ethical clothing store]]The cashier now says '£15 please' which is ridiculous for 3 things (those sunglasses you found in sale for 50p as well as the jeans and top) as you tap your iphone 13 on contactless (yep) the one your mum got you for your birthday last month, you are transported to the sweatshops were the clothes were made. [[pay]]You are now in the sweatshops. You see people, even children making the clothes you were just buying, thousands and thousands of them, all in one dank, dirty warehouse working away on YOUR clothes. A supervisor comes over to you 'come on hurry get to work' and you are now forced to start working on the clothes. What would you like to work on first?
[[choose options]]These would have cost you £10 but you have to work quickly, so the stitches are unneat and badly sewn. For one pair you will be payed 10p and any mistakes you make are payed for by your wages. You are shocked by the low quality of the finished product that you never noticed before realising where it came from.
[[choose options]]This uses bearly any fabric and the facbric used is fraying and likely to have to be thrown out in at most 7 wears. The amount of water used to make the cotton is ridiculous, especially when some people can't get any running water and have to rely on other sources. This would have cost you £4.50 but now you are only payed 4p for your hard work.
[[choose options]] These are cheap, moulded plastic and are only used to 'look good' they dont actually help your eyes, they are just tinted acrylic. These would have costed £1.50 at full price but only cost you £50p as yoou found them in sale. You are payed a mere 1p for the painting of the plactic you have to do.
[[choose options]] what would you prefer to attempt first?
[[Jeans]]
[[Top]]
[[Sunglasses]]
you are begining to see the vast consequences of the small actions you take and would like to buy with the Earth in mind.
[[Choose a more 'planet friendly' approach]] You have found some really expensive pre-loved clothing that has been reduced due to it being already worn. You love your purchase and want to go to the [[ethical clothing store]] to try your luck there.
