A desolate, independant island, far in the vast atlantic. Priding itself on being selsufficient, its civilisation shunned themselves from the rest of this world. The ground is becoming arid and barren, soon crops will no longer be sustainable. The soil is also becoming infertile, after decades of farming. Furthermore, the air is becoming toxic. As fumes output increases, measures will need to be put in place to protect the population from these noxious fumes. The final major isssue is non-sustainable resources, such as metals and oil, are running out. Without these vital materials your population might need to expose themselves to the rest of the world, defeating one of the core parts of your civilisations identity: the unknown. You must choose which of these problems to prioritise.You decide to sail a ship back toward the mainland. The sun is scorching you overhead. After days, maybe even months of searching you come across a tall torch-like structure. It seems teal. The heat starts to become unbarable, sweat builds up on your skin. To an outside onlooker it would seem like a vast expanse of ice melting on your forehead. As you continue exploring you constantly see seemingly floating of metal and conrete. At first you didnt question this, however conrete shouldn't float, as it is denser than water. The sweat continues to accumulate. Then it hits you. This was the effect of climate change on the rest of the wall. These are the remains of skyscrapers. That torch: the statue of liberty. The ice caps must have melted. Meanwhile, you are stranded away from civilisation.
